How Do You Know?

I was recently asked how I know the WAPF way-of-eating is “the right way.”  Here is why I am sure it is…

The research dates back to the early 1900s.  This is not a new fad.  The foundation is based upon the findings of Dr. Weston A. Price who lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s.  Have any of you read Nutrition & Physical Degeneration?  That is the book that Mr. Price wrote.  The WAPF is based upon his findings as a traveling doctor/scientists/investigator/reporter.  I’ve read his book (no surprise) and it only serves to validate what the foundation teaches.  I hope to tie his book in with the curriculum in due time.  Really, I do.  There is SO MUCH out there that testifies that this is the way of true eating.

Anyone who I’ve been in touch with who has tried the WAPF – HARD CORE – has seen tremendous differences.  I am newly a member of my WAPF chapter and hope to become much more active in it.  It has been a HUGE encouragement to see so many (local) people benefiting from Dr. Price’s teachings.

I also value that the WAPF is just that – a FOUNDATION – they do not profit from the help they give.  I appreciate that tremendously.  People helping people is what they are all about.

I think you really need to have a wider view than nutrition when reading about such.  You need to understand that God made the world a certain way and that as a society, we do not live within those values.  The WAPF is trying to get more people to live according to the lines which God drew.  That is NOT to say that Mercola is wrong, or Rubin… In fact, both Mercola and Rubin are involved as donors to the WAPF.  So, really they cross lines.  Also, that is not to say that EVERYTHING WAPF teaches is for EVERYONE.  I eat little to no grains (as Mercola teaches may be best for others).  Others in my family eat grains.  So, I prepare them according to the WAPF ideals.  I LOVE Dr.  Christopher’s supplements, and used them during a few pregnancies, but cannot afford them.  I find much of his philosophy to be helpful and edifying.  Same goes with Rubin.  Rubin irks me because his stuff is RIDICULOUSLY expensive and he profits BIG from what he does.  Personally, I do not contribute to people like that.

But my main point is that many of these people/foundations are teaching much the same – whole foods, traditionally prepared, minimally processed, organic when possible, local when possible, fermented foods are beneficial, boxed foods are dead.  :)

I would encourage you to read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration for data that dates back longer than any doctor who lives today.  I am beginning to think that a large part of society’s problems is that we don’t study our history well enough.  But that is a future blog post… when I have TIME!  ;)
